Brucite usually occurs as elongated, tabular crystals, aggregates, or hummocky masses. The crystals appear white, green, blue-green, or yellow-orange in the presence of manganese. It was discovered by the American mineralogist A. Bruce. Brucite is sometimes associated with aragonite, calcite, or talc. It is a source of magnesium.
