Eudialyte
Eudialyte belongs to the silicate group. It contains sodium, calcium, zirconium, silicon, and other variable elements. Its chemical formula is Na₁₅Ca₆Fe₃Zr₃Si (Si₂₅O₇³ ) ( OH, H₂O ) ₂ ) 3 (Cl,OH) 2 .
Eudialyte has tabular or rhombohedral crystals but is also found in massive granular form. The density of eudialyte is less than 3 (1 for water) and its hardness is greater than 5/10 on the Mohs scale (10 for diamond). The streak on porcelain is white.
The color of its translucent crystals is red, pink, or brown.
The name Eudialyte comes from two Greek words, eu and dialusis, which mean good and dissolution .
