Jasper
Jasper belongs to the silicate group. It is primarily composed of silicon and has the same chemical formula as quartz, SiO₂ . It is a variety of chalcedony with microscopic crystallization. It occurs mainly in massive form. It is a very hard stone, reaching 7/10 on the Mohs scale (10 for diamond). Its density is 2.7 (1 for water), and the streak on porcelain is white. Red jasper contains hematite, green jasper contains iron silicate, and creamy-white to gray jasper contains clay.
