PREHNITE occurs as aggregate, fine stalactitic crystals, tabular crystals, or most commonly as spherical or hummocky green masses. PREHNITE is often associated with Apophyllite, Stilbite, Epidote, and Okenite.
Prehnite has a hardness greater than 6/10 on the Mohs scale (10 for diamond) and a density of 2.9 (1 for water). The line on porcelain is white.
The name Prehnite comes from the name of a Dutch officer H. von Prehn.

Epidote belongs to the silicate group. It contains calcium, aluminum, iron, and silicon. Its chemical formula is Ca2(Fe,Al)Al2(SiO4)(Si2O7)O(OH).
Its crystals are prismatic in shape, with one side always longer. Epidote's hardness is greater than 6/10 on the Mohs scale (10 for diamond) and its density is 3.4 (1 for water). It has a more or less dark and translucent green color. The line on the porcelain is colorless.
EPIDOTE produces gems used as fine stones.
The name Epidote comes from the Greek word epidosis which means complement.
