ADAMITE belongs to the arsenate group. It contains arsenic, zinc, and sometimes copper and cobalt. Its chemical formula is Zn2AsO4(OH).
Its density is 4.4 (1 for water) and its hardness reaches 3.5/10. The line on the porcelain is white.
ADAMITE generally occurs in elongated, tabular, or massive, rounded, or even spherical crystals. The crystals are green, yellow, purple, or pinkish in color. It was discovered by the mineralogist G. Adam. ADAMITE is different from Cuproadamite, which is green (copper), and Cobaltoadamite, which is purple (cobalt).
ADAMITE sometimes fluoresces under UV light.
