AMAZONITE belongs to the silicate group. It contains potassium, aluminum, and silicon. Its chemical formula is KAlSi3O8.
AMAZONITE is a green or blue-green variety of alkali feldspar, called microcline because of its numerous cleavage lines. With the same chemical formula as orthoclase, it is a very common potassium feldspar.
The density of Amazonite is 2.6 (1 for water) and its hardness is greater than 6/10. The line on the porcelain is white.
Blue-green or turquoise Amazonite is a semi-precious variety. Polishing Amazonite reveals beautiful refractive power.

The name Amazonite is taken from the name of the Amazon River.
