BLUE AMBER is a plant resin containing sulfur, carbon, oxygen, and hydrogen. It is similar to yellow amber, but differs from it because it does not contain succinic acid from conifers: it is a fossil plant resin. Blue amber is rarer and its color is revealed by UV fluorescence.
YELLOW AMBER is a fossilized resin from conifers. Its age is usually over several million years old and it is not uncommon to find small insects or plant debris included in it, perfectly preserved and therefore of the same age. Fossil amber from Poland comes from the Baltic Sea and was formed between -30 and -50 Ma and its color varies from pale yellow to yellow-brown.
