Angelite is a calcium sulfate whose real name is blue anhydrite, a name of Greek origin "anhydrous" meaning without water. It transforms into gypsum in the presence of water.
Its hardness is 3.5/10 on the Mohs scale and its density is 3 (1 for water). The streak on the porcelain is white. Angelite occurs in solid form or with numerous cleavages. Its color varies from blue to blue-gray.
