ANGELITE is a calcium sulfate whose real name is BLUE ANHYDRITE, a name of Greek origin anhydrous, meaning without water. It transforms into gypsum in the presence of water.
Its hardness is 3.5/10 on the Mohs scale (10 for diamond) and its density is 3 (1 for water). The line on the porcelain is white. Angelite occurs in massive form or showing numerous cleavages. Its color varies from blue to blue-grey.
