CARBORANDITE is a mineral artificially created by combining carbon and silicon heated to 1200°C. It is a silicon carbide with the chemical formula SiC.
Although light and fragile in appearance, the hardness of Carborundum is very high, greater than 9/10 (10 for diamond). The color of Carborundum is almost black with iridescent blue, yellow or red metallic reflections. Carborundum is a registered trademark.
