CERUSITE belongs to the carbonate group. It contains lead and carbon. Its chemical formula is PbCO3.
CERUSITE occurs as translucent crystals of various shapes, white, colorless, or gray. The hardness of Cerusite is greater than 3/10 on the Mohs scale (10 for diamond) and its density is 3.8 (1 for water). The line on porcelain is colorless.
The name Cerusite comes from the Latin word cerussa and means white lead.
Barium belongs to the sulfate group. It contains barium and sulfur. Its chemical formula is BaSO4.
Barite occurs in crystals that are most often crested, but also in long prismatic tabular crystals. The hardness of barite is greater than 3/10 on the Mohs scale (10 for diamond) and its density is 4.5 (1 for water). The line on the porcelain is white.
BARYTE is white, beige, salmon pink, blue, golden or even colorless.
Its name comes from the Greek word barys, which means heavy.

GALENA belongs to the sulfide group. It contains lead and sulfur. Its chemical formula is PbS.
It occurs in the form of aggregates or cubic, hexahedral, or octahedral crystals, with a gray color and metallic reflections. Galena sometimes contains silver and has therefore been mined for this mineral in addition to lead.
GALENA has semiconducting properties that were used in the early 20th century for the first radio sets.
Galena's hardness is low, slightly higher on the Mohs scale at 2.5/10 (10 for diamond). Its average density is around 7.5 (1 for water). The line on porcelain is dark gray.
The name Galena comes from the Latin galena which means lead ore.
