CHAROITE was discovered in the mid-20th century in Russia near the Chara River, which gave it its name. Charoite is a variable mixture of many chemical elements, including potassium, calcium, and silicon as the main elements, and strontium, aluminum, iron, manganese, and barium as the secondary elements.

Violet to purple in color, this rare stone is generally massive and it is polishing that reveals its magnificent designs. The hardness of Charoite varies between 5 and 6/10 on the Mohs scale (10 for diamond).
