There FLUORINE or FLUORITE belongs to the group of halides. It contains calcium and fluorine. Its chemical formula is CaF 2 .

FLUORINE crystals are often cubic but also octahedral and offer magnificent translucent specimens generally purple, green, yellow, blue and more rarely pink.

Its massive form is also transparent or translucent. The hardness of Fluorite is equal to 4/10 on the Mohs scale (10 for diamond) and its density varies between 3 and 3.3 (1 for water). The line on porcelain is white.

The name Fluorite comes from the Latin word fluere which means to flow , in the sense that Fluorite "flows" when it melts.
