RUTILE belongs to the oxide group. It contains titanium and oxygen. Its chemical formula is TiO2.
It appears as fine, elongated or needle-like crystals. Its density varies around 4.2 (1 for water) and its hardness between 6 and 6.5/10. The line on the porcelain is yellow-brown to red-brown.
RUTILE is usually red, but it is also found in brown, black or golden yellow with Quartz or Ilmenite.
Rutile Quartz is a Quartz containing inclusions of fine golden needles of Rutile.

QUARTZ belongs to the silicate group. It mainly contains silicon. Its chemical formula is SiO 2 .
It appears in massive form or prismatic crystals. Depending on the impurities it contains, this mineral displays various colors such as pink, yellow, red, brown, purple or black and is also found in colorless form.
It is a very common mineral found in almost all types of rock. Morion Quartz owes its color to impurities reacting with the radioactivity released by certain minerals such as Torbernite.
THE Hematoid quartz contains iron, which gives it a beautiful orange-red color. Rose quartz owes its color to the manganese or titanium it contains, or to micro-inclusions of dumortierite.
The hardness of Quartz on the Mohs scale is 7/10 on the Mohs scale (10 for diamond) and its density is 2.7 (1 for water). The line is white or colorless.
The name Quartz comes from German.
