FOSSIL TRILOBITES are arthropods that lived from the Cambrian (-542 Ma) to the Permian (-251 Ma). TRILOBITES lived in shallow seas. Their body was divided into 3 parts: the cephalon (the head), the thorax (the trunk) and the pygidium (the tail). Today, trilobites are most often caught in a matrix and it is very difficult to free the spines of the thorax and pygidium, and the lateral edges of the cephalon. Harpes trilobites lived in the Devonian (-416 to -360 Ma).
