SEPTARIA is the result of the development of a network of cracks filled with limestone (calcite) in a Quartz nodule. A nodule is a body of a more or less spherical shape and generally harder than the rocks that contain it. The presentation of a nodule is carried out by sawing it into 2 equal parts, and then polishing the internal surfaces in order to highlight the cracks. Septaria is most often gray-brown to black in color, and yellow or dark brown to white for the cracks.
