Septaria is the result of the development of a network of cracks filled with limestone (calcite) in a quartz nodule. A nodule is a body of a more or less spherical shape and generally harder than the rocks that contain it.

The presentation of a nodule is carried out either by polishing it, or by sawing it into 2 parts, and then polishing the internal surfaces in order to highlight the cracks.
SEPTARIA is most often gray-brown to black in color, and yellow or dark brown to white in the fissures.
