SEPTARIA is the result of the development of a network of limestone-filled cracks in a nodule. A nodule is a body of a more or less spherical shape and generally harder than the rocks that contain it. The presentation of a nodule is carried out by sawing it into 2 equal parts, and then polishing the internal surfaces to bring out the cracks. Septaria is most often gray-brown to black in color, and dark brown to white for the cracks.
