Lazurite belongs to the silicate group, it contains sodium, calcium, aluminum, silicon and sulfur.
LAPIS LAZULI is quite rare. Its color is the intense dark blue produced by Lazurite and Sodalite. The hardness of Lazurite is greater than 5/10 on the Mohs scale (10 for diamond) and its average density is 2.4 (1 for water). The line on porcelain is light blue.
The name Lapis Lazuli comes from the two Latin words lapis and lazuli, which mean stone and blue. It has been used for thousands of years, particularly by the Egyptians, to make precious objects.
