ARAGONITE belongs to the carbonate group and contains calcium and carbon. It is a crystallized form of limestone, a limestone carbonate. Its chemical formula is CaCO3.

Its color is most often brown, but it can also be colorless, green, blue, or white. The blue variety is called Caribbean Calcite.

Its name comes from the city of Aragon in Spain.
