Stibnite , also known as antimonite , belongs to the sulfide group. It contains antimony and sulfur. Its chemical formula is Sb₂S₃ . Stibnite occurs in massive forms or as clusters of acicular crystals. Its color is close to dark gray with metallic reflections. Stibnite has a hardness of 2/10 on the Mohs scale (10 for diamond) and a density greater than 4.6 (1 for water). Stibnite streaks on porcelain appear lead-gray. The name Stibnite comes from the Greek word stibi , meaning antimony black .
